Renovate the drive system
of the West elevator of the

Eiffel Tower

The Project

BoshRexroth logo

In 2008, plans were made to renovate the elevator in the Eiffel Tower’s West pillar, a lift system which was over 100 years old.

This presented a technological and stylistic challenge: the Iron Lady is flirtatious and does not want to change her good looks!

Bosch Rexroth, with its proven mastery of the techniques of hydraulics, was entrusted with renewing the historic drive system.

Haute Couture Hydraulics.

Change everything without changing anything…

The project presented a unique challenge: to go back to the beginning of the original hydraulic system, dating from 1899, which had been significantly changed as the result of previous renovations.
